Thaleron is a driven team with significant financial backing developing an entirely new mechanical energy storage technology. We have proven it in the lab, and are now building our first scale prototypes. Our aim is not to just make a carbon-free grid cost-competitive with fossil fuels, but drastically cheaper. If we succeed, we will unlock the fourth industrial revolution.

Your Team

We believe in small superstar teams, with high autonomy and responsibility. As Testing & Logistics Manager at Thaleron, you’ll be part of a team of world experts, developing new concepts, rapidly building and testing to destruction.

Our team is onsite in West London at least Tuesday to Thursday, creating an environment conducive to rapid innovation and seamless teamwork.

Your Role

This role is critical to our success. Our energy storage device is very large, and the full test assembly will weigh over 50 tonnes and involve large moving parts. We are building a prototype and will need to test it on land before we can progress to subsea testing. You will run the test site, hold overall responsibility for the safe and successful execution of the testing, and be responsible for site safety.

• Organise the transportation of very large parts and equipment between our suppliers, our base of operations, and our test sites
• Identify a suitable land test site that meets our specific criteria for safety and accessibility
• Draw up the plans, specifications and risk assessments needed for our land and subsea tests
• Work with our head of procurement to identify and instruct suppliers to enable our land and subsea tests
• Oversee the installation of necessary infrastructure (roads and concrete testing surface) in our land test site ahead of testing
• Oversee the setup and removal of our testing equipment onsite immediately before and after testing
• Work closely with our mechanical and electrical engineers to oversee the testing itself and ensure high safety standards

What you need to succeed:

• Experience of managing the transport and logistics of large items
• Experience of organising, preparing for and overseeing potentially dangerous tests
• Extra kudos for Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any equivalent field
• Very strong team player. Working well as part of our team is, if anything, more important than individual brilliance
• A bias for action and getting hands-on work done

Candidate Journey:

1. Talent Screen - video call (30-45 minutes) - an introductory call with our talent consultant.

2. Technical Interview - video call (60 minutes) - initial, technically focused interview with our founders.

3. Onsite meeting (120 minutes) - in-person meeting with the team in central London. You'll participate in a collaborative task and spend valuable time with the whole team.
