Who Are We?

Thaleron is a driven team with significant financial backing developing an entirely new mechanical energy storage technology. We have proven it in the lab, and are now building our first scale prototypes. Our aim is not to just make a carbon-free grid cost-competitive with fossil fuels, but drastically cheaper. If we succeed, we will unlock the fourth industrial revolution.

Your Team

We believe in small superstar teams, with high autonomy and responsibility. As Founder's Associate at Thaleron, you’ll be part of a team of world experts, developing new concepts, rapidly building and testing to destruction.

Our team is onsite at least three days per week, creating an environment conducive to rapid innovation and seamless teamwork.

Your Role

This is a seriously cool opportunity. If you're an entrepreneurial Engineer, and want the chance to peak behind the curtain of what being a founder of a well-backed hardware startup actually involves, this is for you!

As a small, efficient team, all of our people perform a wide variety of impactful roles with real ownership.

Above all, this role involves two things:

1. Being an extension of our founder, and magnifying his ability to get critical stuff done.

2. Being at the intersection of engineering and operations, and enabling seamless collaboration between those two areas.

More specifically, the position will include (but is definitely not limited to):

Founder Support

• Manager Founder's calendar, emails and WhatsApp
• Support with technical queries

Finance

• Support COO on tracking budget and spend forecast & VAT invoices
• Lead on R&D Tax Credit filing

Procurement

• Suppliers - support our head of procurement by visiting, chasing, evaluating
• Procurement of COTS components
• Logistics - Coordinate deliveries, quality control and returns

What you need to succeed:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or any equivalent field
• An entrepreneurial mindset:
  • Adaptable
  • Creative & innovative
  • Self-reliance
  • Communicate and collaborate
  • Curiosity - You want to understand every element of a startup

• Super organised, able to prioritise and balance conflicting tasks

Extra kudos:

• You have explored entrepreneurship through additional qualifications / side hustle / internship / VC programme etc...

Candidate Journey:

1. Talent Screen - video call (30-45 minutes) - an introductory call with our talent consultant.

2. Interview - video call (60 minutes) - initial interview with our COO.

3. Onsite meeting (120 minutes) - in-person meeting with our founder and other team members in central London. You'll participate in a collaborative task and spend valuable time with the whole team.

Along the way, we might also ask you to speak with one of our major investors.

This process is designed to give you every chance to get the measure of us, and us of you. The various stages give you a fair opportunity to show your unique strengths and qualities, and enables each of us to establish if we’re a good fit for the other.
