The Role
As an Intern in Packaging Development in R&D team, you will play a crucial role in our mission to protect the planet by developing materials for clean and closed material loops. You will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on tasks such as conducting experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in the research and development of innovative sustainable packaging solutions. Drawing on your theoretical background in material science, engineering or applied chemistry, you will contribute to the design and optimization of experiments, while gaining valuable practical experience in a laboratory setting.

Preferably I would start in Jan/Feb for at least 6 months. Please note that this is an internship, NOT a bachelor's or master's thesis.
Preferably the candidate should work a minimum of 3 full days a week. If this is not possible, part-time may also be considered.

As an Intern in Packaging Development in R&D team, you will play a crucial role in our mission to protect the planet by developing materials for clean and closed material loops. You will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on tasks such as conducting experiments, analyzing data, and assisting in the research and development of innovative sustainable packaging solutions. Drawing on your theoretical background in material science, engineering or applied chemistry, you will contribute to the design and optimization of experiments, while gaining valuable practical experience in a laboratory setting.
How you'll help build one
- fıve Areas of ownership
- Assist in ongoing experimental plans aimed at developing packaging solutions for clean and closed material loops. Familiarity with heat seal, and barrier polymer-based layers is nice to have.
- Collaborate and assist developers to conduct experiments, and trials.
- Collect and organize experimental data for analysis by the team, maintaining accurate documentation of procedures, results, and observations.
- Contribute to the interpretation of results and draw meaningful conclusions to support ongoing research projects.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Material Science laboratory.
- Assist in equipment preparation, maintenance, and calibration as well as helping with the organization and management of laboratory supplies.
- Collaborate effectively with developers and team members, providing assistance and support as needed.
- Support developers for technology assessment by gathering and documenting information working closely with other departments like procurements and business operations.
- Contribute to reports and presentations by providing well-documented results and insights.
- Actively engage in continuous learning
Who You Are
- Strong Theoretical Background: Solid knowledge in polymer science, material science, engineering, or applied chemistry, enabling contributions to advanced materials research.
- Practical Laboratory Experience: Hands-on skills and technical expertise in lab coating, and paper-based materials characterization, e.g. adhesion, barrier properties.
- Collaboration and Communication: Effective collaboration with researchers, strong communication skills for sharing findings, and fluency in English. German language proficiency is a plus.

- Introduction Zoom call with our TA team – 30 minutes
- Call with our Head of R&D - to share more about one.five, how we work & to dig into the day to day of the role more and answer any questions you may have for us – 45-60 minutes
- Final interview with of our Co-Founders to clarify last open questions and discuss our Values– 30 minutes
